Saddam Hussein: Makes First Court Appearance Thursday

Saddam Has Myriad of Crimes to Face

Wednesday, June 30, 2004 - By Liza Porteus

NEW YORK — When Saddam Hussein (search) is indicted on criminal charges, it will be by people he committed countless atrocities against during his 30-year dictatorship.

Iraq took legal custody of Saddam from the U.S. Army on Wednesday and he is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday where he will be formally charged.

What exactly those charges will be however, is unclear — especially since the so-called “Butcher of Baghdad” not only oversaw the murders of Iraqis, but of Kurds, Iranians, Kuwaitis and others.

“It’s going to take a while to prepare complicated trials like that,” said Walter Russell Mead, senior fellow in U.S. foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations (search). “In one sense, you have so many crimes to choose from, which ones are you going to accuse him of?”

Saddam will be tried by the Iraqi Special Tribunal (search), which covers four types of crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and violations of specific Iraqi laws, including trying to manipulate judges, squandering of public assets and funds and the “threat of war or use of the armed forces of Iraq against an Arab country,” a crime in Iraq since 1958.

MooreWatch Seeks to Correct the Record

The online website www.MooreWatch.com has prepared a flier to set the record straight on some of the inaccuracies contained within the movie/propaganda flick, “Fahrenheit 9/11”

You can download a copy of the flier - BY CLICKING HERE

They’re hoping to distribute these outside of movie theaters and ask that you print this out and go to your local theater and distribute them to the people waiting in line.

Might we also suggest that if you see ANY reporters or media crews there to approach them and kindly alert them to what you are doing and share a copy of the flier with them.

New Book Takes a Critical Look at Michael Moore

We’ve enjoyed following the work of David T. Hardy who has been investigating the lies and distortions told by left-wing filmmaker, Michael Moore.

You can therefore imagine how pleased we were when we found out Hardy had a new book on Moore.  The book is titled “Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man” and will be released on June 29, 2004.

We’ve obtained an advance copy of the book and from what we’ve read so far it looks to be a winner!  The writeup from the book includes this description: “In Michael Moore Is a Big Fat Stupid White Man, Hardy and Clarke dish it back hard to the fervent prophet of the far left, turning a careful eye on Moore’s use of camera tricks and publicity ploys to present his own version of the truth.”

You can pre-order the book at Amazon.com - CLICK HERE TO ORDER “Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man”

Michael Moore - Does He Know Better Than Parents?

I received a copy of this letter Tammy Bruce sent to Tom Ortenberg of Lions Gate Films.  Mr. Ortenberg is pictured below.

Lion Gate Films is distributing Michael Moore’s anti-American propaganda flick “Fahrenheit 9/11.” Mr. Ortenberg has also been one of the chief spinmeisters for the “Fahrenheit 9/11” team.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I would like to let you know that I found your comments encouraging
Children to see Fahrenheit 9/11, “through” their parents, despite its R rating, as extraordinarily irresponsible.

The rating is there so *parents* can determine what their children see.
Your encouragement is essentially suggesting that strangers, like you and Mr. Moore, have the right to go to people’s homes and encourage children to ignore their parents and disobey them.

Who are you to suggest this?

You have every right to release the film. How dare you, though, suggest that parents have lost the right to raise their children based on their values.  Considering your attitude, I would think you don’t have children, but think about the repercussions if a stranger approached children important to you and told them to ignore your instructions?

Or if strangers walked into your office and suggested your staff follow
*their* orders and not yours?  I think that’s something you wouldn’t appreciate.

Please consider retracting that comment, and encourage children to respect what an “R” rating is for (whether you like it or not) and that respecting their parents wishes is of paramount importance.

If you *don’t* agree with those two principles, I think that, too, would be fascinating to Americans.

Please do the right thing.

With Concern,
Tammy Bruce
