MAF Announces 2nd Annual Troopathon “Troop-a-thon” Care-Package Drive Event to be co-hosted by Andrew Breitbart, Michelle Malkin and Melanie Morgan Sacramento, CA – On June 25th, 2009, Move America Forward, the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization, will be hosting its 2nd annual “Troop-a-thon”. The event will be hosted by megablogger Michelle Malkin, Melanie Morgan from San Francisco’s KSFO Hot Talk Radio and Andrew Breitbart, who runs Breitbart.TV, “Big Hollywood” blog. A wide array of Hollywood celebrities, musicians, TV and radio personalities, journalists, and members of the military have already agreed to participate in the project. Some notables include President George H. W. Bush, Jon Voight, Kevin Farley, Laura Ingraham, and Mark Levin, just to name a few. The goal of the project is to send care packages to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. During the 8-hour event that will be broadcast on the internet, radio and TV, viewers are encouraged to sponsor care packages for the troops as the guests and hosts discuss various topics related to supporting our troops. Care packages will include items that our military personnel have requested, and each comes with a personalized note from the sponsor. Last year the group held a similar 8-hour event through an enduring partnership with USTream.TV, which provided technical expertise. The event was a huge success that blew away the group’s goal of $500,000. With the help of esteemed guests such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, and a video sent from Gen. David Petraeus, viewers donated more than $1.6 million to send care packages to troops. In total, the group shipped more than 12,000 boxes as a result of that fund-raiser. “It was extremely exciting last year as viewers went the extra mile to donate in huge numbers at the climax of our show,” said Catherine Moy, Executive Director of MAF. “We challenged the American people to show their support for the troops, and they amazed us with their generosity!” With help from an exciting and quickly growing list of guests and co-hosts Breitbart, Malkin and Morgan, the group plans to make this an even more successful event and a greater show of support for troops fighting overseas!
